  • We greet you at your chosen arrival point and transport you through one of the greenest countries in Europe. Depending on your arrival point, it's a 2½ hour journey (with a comfort stop on the way) to our accommodation.

  • The base for this tour is at a family run guesthouse with restaurant set amongst vineyards in the Goričko National Park.

  • Our first tasting is a 20 minute drive away. Set in lush meadows and forests. It's a state of the art winery with a great range of fresh and fruity whites along with some complex reds too.

  • The evening is spent at a local family owned restaurant that specialises in locally sourced and seasonal dishes. Renowned for being one of the best (if not the best!) restaurants in the area.

DAY 1 - To the rolling slopes of Goričko
DAY 2 - Maribor - The World's Oldest Vine and more
  • After a leisurely breakfast we make the 45 minute journey to Maribor, Slovenia's second city and European City of Culture 2012.

  • The morning is free to explore this interesting and historic city. There are plenty of places for you to chose from to enjoy lunch.

  • After lunch we take a walk along the Drava river to reach our tasting destination, The Old Vine House, where we find the old vine.

  • This celebrated vine was planted more than 4 centuries ago and still bears grapes. The vine produces very little wine which is reserved for dignitaries, VIP's and famous people. It's been presented to Popes, Presidents, Emperors and even Brad Pitt! Here, at the Old Vine House, we will sample superior wines from the Maribor region.

  • Next we head out of Maribor, into the countryside surrounding the city, to award winning Dveri Pax at Jarenina Manor - a beautifully renovated 450 year old castle.

  • Here in their purposely built modern tasting room we will sample a variety of their wines which have won a host of prizes.

  • When we tear ourselves away from here it will be to return to our base, an hours drive away.

  • The evening is free for you to enjoy a home cooked evening meal at the guest house which is included in the tour price.

DAY 3 - Heavenly name, heavenly wines
  • This morning we head to the wine growing area of Podravje, a 40 minute drive away.

  • We visit the Ljutomer-Ormoz district, where the village of Jeruzalem lies. Jeruzalem was named by the Crusaders who were so taken with the area (and the wines!) that they decided to settle there, proclaiming that they had found their Jerusalem. And you will see why, with amazing landscapes - it really is a little piece of heaven. We will have a stop at Jeruzalem village. A chance to visit the church, take in the views and have a coffee stop before we head off to Vineyard Cottage Malek owned by P&F Wineries.

  • Here we'll sample wines from their extensive range in a building that's more than 300 years old and contains a house chapel with a conserved fresco.  P & F were awarded 'Slovenian Wine Producer of the Year' at the New York International Wine Competition in October 2016, and have won numerous Decanter awards. We'll enjoy a lunch of locally sourced breads, cheeses and charcuterie here, after which we travel to our next destination.

  • Our last tasting of the day is perfectly situated to enjoy the views across vineyards towards Croatia. Here we taste wines from various local producers from the Ljutomer-Ormoz area and get to know a little more about the region.

  • After this we head back to base for some chill out time before heading back out to a very local vinotoč. This is a family run wine bar and eatery that only sell products made by themselves. We will enjoy an evening meal and wine here along with a tasting of their wines in their traditional style building filled with implements from the past. A real old fashioned Slovenian environment.

  • A unhurried final breakfast together.

  • At this time, we can take orders for any wines you can't fit in your case! These will be shipped over for you to be enjoyed at home and maybe share with friends.

  • Afterwards, we'll drive you to your chosen departure airport/point.

  • Of course, you could choose to extend your stay to include a city break in either Ljubljana or Zagreb. Or why not spend some time at Slovenia's best known tourist destination - Lake Bled?

  • We can arrange accommodation for you and get you to your next location. All part of the service!
